FUN WITH TRACY COMMUNITY CHOIR
TRACY COMMUNITY CHOIR
A truly wonderful event this past Holiday Season was Tracy Civic Theater’s Community Choir Christmas Concert December 10. The concert, which featured the Tracy Community Choir’s three groups and an adult ensemble, was a smashing success as St. Paul’s Church was packed to the rafters. Holiday classics, as well as lesser-known Christmas music, were featured and the show concluded with a resounding audience sing along that brought smiles to all in attendance and participating. It was a night for everyone from 1 to 99.
You may be wondering why I am revisiting the Holiday Season here in the middle of January. Well, the reason being is the Tracy Community Choir is reforming. The beauty of this organization is that you don’t have to be a songstress or an experienced baritone. The choir is open to all who want to share their love for singing and music. The Tracy Community Choir, which formed in 2004 and has grown tremendously, is divided into three groups that gather every Tuesday through May: Children (3rd to 5th grade) who meet from 5:00 to 5:50 PM; Youth (6th to 8th grade) who meet from 6:00 to 7:00 PM; and Adult (high school and older) who meet from 7:15 to 9:00 PM. The cost to join Tracy Community Choir is only $50 and the organization will set up monthly installments for those that need it.
The Tracy Community Choir is lead by Jennifer Glover, a professional voice instructor and performer. Those from beginner to experienced benefit from her instruction and being part of the choir. The choir is a living classroom for those wanting to improve on their singing. Sign-ups for the choir began this last Tuesday and will continue the next two Tuesday evenings. Sign-ups and rehearsals are held at the Good Shepard Church at 306 W. Eaton Dr. in Tracy. Rehearsals are held every Tuesday nite at the times designated and will culminate in a May 6 performance: "It's All About...The Early Swing and Jazz Era", which will once again be held at St. Paul’s Church located at 1635 Chester Dr., Tracy. And no doubt will once again be filled to the rafters.
